Schiller and Goethe in Jena

Friedrich Schiller was one of Jena University’s most famous professors and lived in the city for more than ten years – longer than he ever stayed anywhere else. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, his fellow writer, was also fond of Jena, and spent almost five years here in total. And it was in Jena in 1794 that Schiller and Goethe began their long-standing friendship. But what attracted these great poets to this “dear, foolish nest”, as Goethe once described Jena? Where can you still find reminders of their lives and works?
